The Only Hope For Mankind

Have you noticed the difference between the way humans and animals react to the fear of death?
A herd of buck or wildebeest will bolt when a lion or other predator appears but after the predator has made its kill they will quietly stay and watch the animal have its meal. Can you imagine humans behaving in this manner?

Consider birds for example. A bird will land a short distance away from a person. It will be looking for food while keeping an eye on the person. It behaves very cautiously. Make a slight move towards it and it will skip a very short distance away or else  it will take to the air and land a little further way.

I once put a plastic crocodile in the gutter on the roof of my house. The birds gathered around the plastic toy twittering excitedly amongst themselves, but keeping what they considered a safe distance from the toy. Then a little later some bolder ones came a little closer. After about a day they were right on the plastic crocodile picking at it. They were cautious but showed no real fear at all. They appeared quite confident that they could quite easily escape from any threat to their safety.

Can you imagine humans behaving like that? Apart from a few persons that evidently like the adrenalin rush humans in general would not consider flirting with death. Of course I do acknowledge that more and more people are going in for dangerous sports and are showing an interest in taking risks, but there may be other reasons to account for this.

.

Why is this difference so obvious between animals and humans?

Well from a scientific point of view the 2nd law of thermodynamics shows that everything around us is subject to decay and the Bible shows that when God created animals that there was no indication that God ever intended giving them a hope of everlasting life. An interesting scripture shows that they were created as subject to this 2nd law.

(2 Peter 2:12-13) 12 But these [men], like unreasoning animals born naturally to be caught and destroyed, ….

On the other hand with regard to humans the scripture says of God:

(Ecclesiastes 3:11) . . .Everything he has made pretty in its time. Even time indefinite he has put in their heart, . . .

As we are all aware that the figurative heart is the seat of love, desire and motivation, this indicates that humans were created with an inborn desire to live on forever if possible, whereas animals never give this a thought.

This is in accord with the facts of life. Only humans appear to think about the future and have worrying thoughts concerning their death and the way they might die. Even thoughts concerning the death of a loved ones, are painful and can afflict some  for years. Animals just appear to get on with their lives without a worry in the world

To this day scientists experiment and try to find ways of increasing our life span. Consider how short our lives really are. We spend about 20 years growing up. i We get married and have children, which takes about another 20 years. By 40 we experience middle age and spend about another 20 years with gradually declining abilities. From then on we gradually decline rapidly even having to be cared for like a child in most cases and finally it all ends with death.

.

The Enigma of Life

During our lives we are plagued by many diseases and problems and our later years many suffer terribly from painful disorders like cancer and arthritis etc.
Is it reasonable that God would put into us the desire to live forever and yet give us such a limited life span? This brings no honor to God and shows that this could never have been his original intention.

Another thing; In spite of the fact that we would all like to live happy lives in the future, it appears that the majority of mankind are bent on trying to control, and enslave others of mankind and will even resort to violence to achieve this goal even if it means war and the destruction of their fellowmen. The history of mankind is written in wars and horrendous treatment of their fellow men. Why is this so? Surely we need an explanation for this enigma.

Can we have any chance whatsoever of ever achieving this goal of living a happy life indefinitely?
If you are an evolutionist and the theory of evolution happens to be true, then you have no hope for the future. Maybe your future ancestors may get some benefit, but what you have now is all that you will ever have.
Evolution gives no hope to its believers. In fact if that belief is fervently held even when faced with solid evidence to the contrary, it maybe that the person may no longer have an inborn desire to live indefinitely.  Because the human race ia  deteriorating, through the damaging effects of cosmic rays and other radiation, it is possible for some to have degenerated to the extent that they are no more than clever animals, quite content to live a short time  and then die. Scientists tell us that our bodies are bombarded on a daily basis with cosmic rays, which occasionally collide with genes in our reproductive cells and this damage is inherited. So humans, contrary to evolution theory are actually deteriorating in harmony with the 2nd law of thermodynamics and not evolving upward as the theory suggest.

The theory of evolution leaves present mankind without any hope for a future, so I find it hard to understand why so many get exited about it and fight tooth and nail to uphold it even though it is only a theory and has nothing factual to support it.

.

Is There any Basis for Hope for the Future?

Modern scientists today explain that when using the Hubble telescope it has been observed that the universe is expanding. If we imagine that its expansion was recorded on film, by rewinding the film we come to the time when it had a beginning. Furthermore supporting proof of this fact is that our sun is perceived to be converting matter into energy at this moment. We can physically detect this by feeling the warmth of this energy conversion process. In other words our sun is like a gigantic furnace burning up fuel and ultimately will consume all the available fuel if given enough time. If the universe is eternal it would mean that somewhere and somehow more fuel would have to be added to compensate for the fuel consumed. As matter itself is being changed into energy more matter would have to be created to compensate for the loss caused by the conversion of matter to energy. That is a scientific fact and a logical conclusion of the matter. If the universe had a beginning then that means it had to be created. Does the Bible support this conclusion?

(Isaiah 40:25-26) . . .“But to whom can YOU people liken me so that I should be made his equal?” says the Holy One. 26 “Raise YOUR eyes high up and see. Who has created these things? It is the One who is bringing forth the army of them even by number, all of whom he calls even by name. Due to the abundance of dynamic energy, he also being vigorous in power, not one [of them] is missing.

.

What we can Learn from Science

Now having dispensed with that factor everything changes. With a creator in the picture maybe we do have a hope for the future. Once we approach the subject knowing that there is a creator, we know from experience and our understanding of cause and effect that such a creator must have a purpose. Common sense also tells us that some knowledge of the creator can be obtained by studying his work. Just as the work of any creator like an engineer, or a painter or a musician tells us something about how a creator felt about his creation, this means that with a careful study of his creation, we can learn something about God.

.

Let us look at the way we have been made.

Consider your eyes. They are superior to any cameras made by man. Cameras have been available for at least a hundred years and today’s camera are excellent. Yet when compared with the eyes of humans, birds and animals modern cameras are poor by comparison.

In the past century attempts were made to duplicate what we see by the use of three cameras that resulted in the development of CinemaScope. This was later abandoned as being too expensive and impractical. Why? To achieve what the human eye is capable of, a whole battery of cameras would have to be assembled so as to cover an area that could be described as more than180 degrees. For us to be able to see the result, a whole battery of projectors would have to be arranged so as to project the picture formed  onto a curved screen which almost surrounds the viewer. The pictures projected would have to be linked perfectly together so as to form one complete picture. Then perhaps we might get the effect. However this would still be far short of what we see because it would not give us a 3 dimensional picture Our eyes possess almost 180 degrees stereoscopic undistorted vision, and every normal person has this facility and not just a privileged few.

.

What is the purpose of our having 3D vision and how is it achieved?

Without having 3D vision you would not be able to calibrate the distances of object in relation to us. For example if you reached out to grab something you would need to be able to estimate how far you are from the object. Because of this stereoscopic effect we are able discern depth. But this is only the half of it. The images that your two eyes see are actually upside down. Your brain acting as a super computer has to perform the mathematical calculations to synchronize the images, manipulate the lenses, focus the image, and perform the necessary calculations that enable you to estimate the distances to an object? Humans have built rangefinders that estimate  the distances to the targets that naval guns are aimed at based on the optical principles that the eye uses..

I have gone into detail in this one instance to enable you to see what a marvelous creation God produced when he gave us the eye. I could discuss millions of examples but you are mentally equipped to do that yourself. You only need to be pointed in that direction. What does this one example tell us about God? It shows that in addition to the enormous power and wisdom to create a universe, God also gives attention to small details and wants to give his creation every reason to praise him for his wonderful works. Is not this provision a loving provision for you and I to make our lives comfortable and satisfying?

I am just going to give one brief example of the consideration that God shows for our comfort, Consider how fortunate that you and I are to have a bladder. If a person has to have a bladder removed because of disease, the best that surgeons can do is to replace it with a little bag to store our urine which can then be emptied later. Imagine how uncomfortable you would feel if you walked around spraying urine all over the place. The only practical reason for a bladder is consideration for our comfort. It is not absolutely necessary. Yet every living creature has some provision made for their comfort in this way. What does this show about God?

It shows his love and consideration for his creation.

.

Belief in God Gives a Reliable Hope

Now consider this fact.  We have been created with intelligence. Our creation shows all the evidence of a kind, considerate and caring creator, who wants us to appreciate his care for us. Does it make sense for us to be left ignorant of the reasons for the existence of pain and suffering and death?

Would a creator gives us such an amazing potential and yet have us living shorter lives than tortoises that have been clocked at living to 200 years? Why do trees like the American sequoia trees that are alive at present and been clocked at being 3000 years old, have this long life span whereas we, with our greater potential have such a short life spans? Are trees and tortoises able to accomplish what we can do during our limited lifespan.  Imagine what could be accomplished if we had more time?. Imagine if you were a musician. I spent a large part of my life practicing and working on perfecting my craft as a trumpet player and then I went through the experience, year by year after a certain age of losing all those abilities. Today, I can practice for about ten minutes before everything is gone. And even during those ten minutes my performance is a mere shadow of what I could do. This is the reality of life and I include my own experience as evidence that, if life continues in the same way, every man, woman and child will ultimately go through this experience.  Does this make sense?  The fact that tortoises and trees can live for great periods is actual proof that God could just as easily have given us longer lives. A Creator with the enormous power to create a universe and design the tiniest creature with concern and consideration would certainly have provided us with the answers to these questions that arise so as that we could make sense out of our existence. We can thank God that he has.

.

Have the World’s religions got the Answer?

All world religion claims to worship God. That is a fact. Yet common sense tells us that they cannot possibly all be worshipping in truth. Different religions contradict one another left and right. In many cases, they are part of the problem. How many terrible things have been done in the name of religion? Think of the meaningless deaths of the kamikaze pilots that died by the thousands during the 2nd world war, crashing their aircraft into American warships because of their religion. Think of the wars between religions, with two different religions both claiming to worship God and Jesus Christ and then slaughtering one another om the battlefields in wars like the crusades and the recent world wars. The torture of individuals as heretics by fanatical clergy during the inquisition and the present day suicide bombings and murder of innocent victims treated as collateral damage by fanatical groups with religio-political motives. This does not mean that religion in itself is wrong. No! But it does prove that there is such a thing as true religion and false religion. Atheists and evolutionists have behaved similarly.

.

The Human Race finds itself in the exact condition described in the Bible.

(Job 14:1-2) . . .“Man, born of woman, Is short-lived and glutted with agitation. 2 Like a blossom he has come forth and is cut off, And he runs away like the shadow and does not keep existing

The fact that all this is reported in the Bible proves that God is fully aware of our condition. Even the way it is recorded shows that God wants us to seriously consider these facts.

(Job 14:7-10) . . .For there exists hope for even a tree. If it gets cut down, it will even sprout again, And its own twig will not cease to be. 8 If its root grows old in the earth And in the dust its stump dies, 9 At the scent of water it will sprout And it will certainly produce a bough like a new plant. 10 But an able-bodied man dies and lies vanquished;. . .

The Bible’s observation regarding man’s rule  is also noteworthy. Although these words were written about 2500 ears ago it is as true today as it was then.

(Ecclesiastes 8:9-) . . .All this I have seen, and there was an applying of my heart to every work that has been done under the sun, [during] the time that man has dominated man to his injury.

In the following scripture the Bible shows that God is interested in our benefit.

(Isaiah 48:17-19) . . .: “I, Jehovah, am your God, the One teaching you to benefit [yourself], the One causing you to tread in the way in which you should walk. 18 O if only you would actually pay attention to my commandments! Then your peace would become just like a river, and your righteousness like the waves of the sea. 19 And your offspring would become just like the sand, and the descendants from your inward parts like the grains of it. One’s name would not be cut off or be annihilated from before me.”

In the next scripture the Bible hints at the root of the trouble by reporting that we are all defective because of what we have inherited. It shows that our life span has been limited in a sense by God. Of course he did this by withdrawing his protective care and allowing Adam and Eve, our first parents to die. As we are the children of these two humans we have inherited imperfection from them. We are all subject to death and this can be scientifically shown to be the result of our subjection to the 2nd law of thermodynamics” Only God can cause us to extend our lives

(Job 14:4-5) . . .Who can produce someone clean out of someone unclean? There is not one.  5 If his days are decided, The number of his months is with you; A decree for him you have made that he may not go beyond.

Notice that even though most of these references are from the book of Job in the Bible, it shows that Job had hopes of something better.

(Job 14:12-15) 12 Man also has to lie down and does not get up. Until heaven is no more they will not wake up, Nor will they be aroused from their sleep. 13 O that in She´ol you would conceal me, That you would keep me secret until your anger turns back, That you would set a time limit for me and remember me! 14 If an able-bodied man dies can he live again? All the days of my compulsory service I shall wait, Until my relief comes. 15 You will call, and I myself shall answer you. For the work of your hands you will have a yearning. . .

.

Why the Jews kept a Sabbath Law

A glance at the list of articles that I have written will show that I have attempted to answer nearly every question that persons have about life. Therefore I will try to avoid repeating them  and instead concentrate on one aspect of the Bible teaching which I think can add to and support us in our hope for a better future,

The subject that I have chosen is the Sabbath law that was given to the nation of Israel.

Contrary to what most religions teach and what most people believe, the Bible does not teach that God created the universe in seven 24 hour days.

(Hebrews 4:1-5) . . .Therefore, since a promise is left of entering into his rest, let us fear that sometime someone of YOU may seem to have fallen short of it. 2 For we have had the good news declared to us also, even as they also had; but the word which was heard did not benefit them, because they were not united by faith with those who did hear. 3 For we who have exercised faith do enter into the rest, just as he has said: “So I swore in my anger, ‘They shall not enter into my rest,’” although his works were finished from the founding of the world. 4 For in one place he has said of the seventh day as follows: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,” 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter into my rest.”
The implications of this passage is very important. Why? Because if God was resting when those prophecies were made to the Israelites and he said that they would not be allowed to enter his rest then God had already been resting for thousands of years. Paul then explains at verse 9 that there was to be a Sabbath rest day for man and when that occurred man’s rest day would coincide with God’s rest day.

(Hebrews 4:6-10) . . .Since, therefore, it remains for some to enter into it, and those to whom the good news was first declared did not enter in because of disobedience, 7 he again marks off a certain day by saying after so long a time in David’s [psalm] “Today”; just as it has been said above: “Today if YOU people listen to his own voice, do not harden YOUR hearts.” 8 For if Joshua had led them into a place of rest, [God] would not afterward have spoken of another day. 9 So there remains a sabbath resting for the people of God. 10 For the man that has entered into [God’s] rest has also himself rested from his own works, just as God did from his own. . .

.

Christianity and the Sabbath

With the coming of Christianity the law covenant that God had made with Israel ended and with it the Sabbath law. The apostle Paul explained that the Sabbath only foreshadowed something greater

(Colossians 2:16-17) . . .Therefore let no man judge YOU in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of an observance of the new moon or of a sabbath; 17 for those things are a shadow of the things to come, but the reality belongs to the Christ. . .

Because certain religions insist that the Sabbath law given to the nation of Israel was binding on all mankind, it is necessary to show that this was not so.

Although people were inclined to divide their time into seven day weeks the first hint of a command to observe a sabbath was made when God supplied the people with manna in the wilderness. They were commanded to gather enough for each day and were allowed to gather twice as much on the sixth day but not to gather manna on the seventh day. As they were not accustomed to keeping a sabbath law, some went out to gather manna on the seventh day only to find that there was none. God had enforced the keeping of this sabbath observance.

(Exodus 16:19-21) . . .Then Moses said to them: “Let nobody leave any of it until the morning.” 20 But they did not listen to Moses. When some men would leave some of it until the morning, it would breed worms and stink; so that Moses became indignant at them. 21 And they would pick it up morning by morning, each one in proportion to his eating. When the sun got hot, it melted.

(Exodus 16:22-23) . . .And it came about on the sixth day that they picked up twice as much bread, two omer measures for one person. So all the chieftains of the assembly came and reported it to Moses. 23 At that he said to them: “It is what Jehovah has spoken. Tomorrow there will be a sabbath observance of a holy sabbath to Jehovah. . ..

(Exodus 16:25-27) . . .Then Moses said: “Eat it today, because today is a sabbath to Jehovah. Today YOU will not find it in the field. 26 Six days YOU will pick it up, but on the seventh day is a sabbath. On it none will form.” 27 However, it came about on the seventh day that some of the people did go out to pick [it] up, but they found none. . .

When God commanded the  Sabbath Law to be kept in his covenant with Israel it  was to be a sign between himself  and the nation of Israel.

(Exodus 31:15-17) . . .Anyone doing work on the sabbath day will positively be put to death. 16 And the sons of Israel must keep the sabbath, so as to carry out the sabbath during their generations. It is a covenant to time indefinite. 17 Between me and the sons of Israel it is a sign to time indefinite,. . .

It was not a sign between God and the whole human race but a sign between God and the “sons of Israel”.

Why is this law of benefit to us today? Because it was a shadow of things to come and by looking at it more carefully it helps us to see what hope God is providing for his people today.

The Jews observed a Sabbath day, a Sabbath year and after seven Sabbath years, a Jubilee in the 50th year. What did these foreshadow.?

The Sabbath provided a rest day preventing heads of families from becoming “workaholics” There were important things in life, like spending time with the family and ones children, and in instructing the family in spiritual matters that was more important than working for pure materialistic pursuits.

Jews that had become poor and needed to indenture themselves as slaves to pay off their debts also were provided with a day of rest. This prevented their employers from exploiting them.

The Sabbath year also served a purpose. It provided rest for the land itself, giving it time to recover. This worked to prevent the selfish exploitation of earth’s natural resources. To provide for the following sabbath year,  Jews had to work extra hard the preceding year but they could then rest for an entire year. This placed the emphasis on the more important things in life and guarded against materialistic greed.  Slaves were also released, so they also experienced relief

The jubilee served all the previous purposes and in addition permitted persons to return to their original inheritance. When the Jews originally come into the promised land they were all given a portion of the land. This had to be restored to the original owners so no Jew could be perpetually poor.

Now consider if this was applied to mankind as a whole what would it mean for all of ? God was giving everyone an opportunity to possess the original inheritance that Adam had squandered for us. Our enslavement to death and sin would be ended and we would have been perfect as Adam was without experiencing sickness and death. The earth itself would rest itself from the greedy exploitation, that it had been subjected to during our time of affliction. So what a wonderful Sabbath this would be for us. Who would not want this and be grateful to God if we experienced this blessing.

(Leviticus 25:1-4) . . .And Jehovah spoke further to Moses in Mount Si´nai, saying: 2 “Speak to the sons of Israel, and you must say to them, ‘When YOU eventually come into the land that I am giving YOU, then the land must observe a sabbath to Jehovah. 3 Six years you should sow your field with seed, and six years you should prune your vineyard, and you must gather the land’s produce. 4 But in the seventh year there should occur a sabbath of complete rest for the land,

(Leviticus 25:8) . . .And you must count for yourself seven sabbaths of years, seven times seven years, and the days of the seven sabbaths of years must amount to forty-nine years for you.

(Leviticus 25:10-12) . . .And YOU must sanctify the fiftieth year and proclaim liberty in the land to all its inhabitants. It will become a Jubilee for YOU, and YOU must return each one to his possession and YOU should return each one to his family. 11 A Jubilee is what that fiftieth year will become for YOU. YOU must not sow seed nor reap the land’s growth from spilled kernels nor gather the grapes of its unpruned vines. 12 For it is a Jubilee. It should become something holy to YOU. From the field YOU may eat what the land produces.

When Jesus came to earth the religious leaders legislated the keeping of the Sabbath in a way that placed a burden upon the people. This was never what God intended and showed up the dangers of tradition.

(Luke 13:14-16) . . .But in response the presiding officer of the synagogue, indignant because Jesus did the cure on the sabbath, began to say to the crowd: “There are six days on which work ought to be done; on them, therefore, come and be cured, and not on the sabbath day.” 15 However, the Lord answered him and said: “Hypocrites, does not each one of YOU on the sabbath untie his bull or his ass from the stall and lead it away to give it drink? 16 Was it not due, then, for this woman who is a daughter of Abraham, and whom Satan held bound, look! eighteen years, to be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?. . .

(Matthew 12:8) . . .For Lord of the sabbath is what the Son of man is.”

(Mark 2:27-28) . . .So he went on to say to them: “The sabbath came into existence for the sake of man, and not man for the sake of the sabbath; 28 hence the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath.”

From the foregoing scriptures Jesus showed that the Sabbath was for man’s benefit and  was never intended to be a burden.

At this point we are going to digress for the moment to explain the reason why all the wars and evil things that have been perpetrated on suffering humanity and how God intends changing that.  The expression “world” does not refer to our planet. It refers to a system of humanity.

.

There two worlds that we need to discuss.

The first is the wicked world of which Satan is the ruler.

This wicked  world which has been responsible for so much suffering is the world under Satan’s control which we live in at the moment. Does this not explain why all this distress is occurring. Satan is a selfish tyrannical ruler. Because of the religious lies, men have been persuaded to believe that the world we live in is being ruled by God. When Adam and Eve chose to listen to Satan they came under Satan’s power and just like he deceived Eve so he deceives mankind. I am not saying that Satan is not trying to get this world to operate peacefully, but he his following his own policy. This means that he is not ruling like God with love and consideration for is subjects but he uses deceit, intimidation and force. To use God’s methods would be an admission of failure on his part and because he is selfish those under his control reflect his methods.  What are his methods?  Deceit, intimidation and force.

(John 12:30-31) . . .In answer Jesus said: “This voice has occurred, not for my sake, but for YOUR sakes. 31 Now there is a judging of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out.. . .

(John 14:30) . . .I shall not speak much with YOU anymore, for the ruler of the world is coming. And he has no hold on me. .

(1 John 2:15) 15 Do not be loving either the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him

These are the methods that the world uses.

(John 8:41) . . .YOU do the works of YOUR father.”. . .

(John 8:44)
44 YOU are from YOUR father the Devil, and YOU wish to do the desires of YOUR father. That one was a manslayer when he began, and he did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him. When he speaks the lie, he speaks according to his own disposition, because he is a liar and the father of [the lie].. . .

.

What was the world that God loved?

(John 3:16) . . .For God loved the world so much that he gave his only-begotten Son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life. . .

According to the following scripture, a world came into existence with the birth of Abel. The scripture calls this the “founding of the world.”  What was this world that came into existence?
After Adam and Eve sinned God dealt with them by  expelling them from  his family, and letting them go on their own. However when Abel was born a world began to come into existence composed of persons born in a dying state through no fault of their own. Every human after that was in that state and that world was a world of people disadvantaged through no fault of their own. That world was the world that God loved and made provision for rectifying their disadvantaged position by the sacrifice of his son. The following scripture supports this thought.

(Luke 11:49-51) . . .On this account the wisdom of God also said, ‘I will send forth to them prophets and apostles, and they will kill and persecute some of them, 50 so that the blood of all the prophets spilled from the founding of the world may be required from this generation, 51 from the blood of Abel down to the blood of Zech·a·ri´ah, who was slain between the altar and the house.’ Yes, I tell YOU, it will be required from this generation

With regard to the world that God loved so much. This world came into existence and it was enslaved to sin and death.  According to God’s promise of a Sabbath rest for mankind, Jesus died to ransom mankind from sin and death. This gives any children of Adam a hope for the future foreshadowed by the Sabbath laws given to Israel. Jesus Christ was to be “The Lord of this Sabbath.” Just as Jesus when on earth had healed all manner of diseases and had raised people from the dead, as “the Lord of the Sabbath” he was demonstrating what he would do during that great antitypical Sabbath.

.

When would all this occur?

The Prophet Daniel had predicted that Jesus was going to be given a kingdom with him as its king.

In the “lords “prayer” Christians had been admonished to pray for God’s kingdom to come and bring God’s will on earth as it was done in heaven.

Daniel 7:13-14 looked forward in prophecy to the time when this kingdom was to be set up.

(Daniel 7:13-14) 13 “I kept on beholding in the visions of the night, and, see there! with the clouds of the heavens someone like a son of man happened to be coming; and to the Ancient of Days he gained access, and they brought him up close even before that One. 14 And to him there were given rulership and dignity and kingdom, that the peoples, national groups and languages should all serve even him. His rulership is an indefinitely lasting rulership that will not pass away, and his kingdom one that will not be brought to ruin.

With the coming of this kingdom it was predicted that Satan and his demons were to be bound in death for a thousand years.

(Revelation 20:1-2) . . .And I saw an angel coming down out of heaven with the key of the abyss and a great chain in his hand. 2 And he seized the dragon, the original serpent, who is the Devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

(Revelation 20:3) 3 And he hurled him into the abyss and shut [it] and sealed [it] over him, that he might not mislead the nations anymore until the thousand years were ended. After these things he must be let loose for a little while.

Can you image what a relief it will be for mankind when this occurs? Mankind will now be under the rulership of Jesus Christ. Jesus had performed many miracles including raising persons from the dead and by this had demonstrated that God had given him the authority to do these things, Now as God ‘s ruling king he would apply the benefits of his sacrifice to bring humans to perfection. He would resurrect deserving ones if necessary to accomplish this. The thousand years will be a Jubilee, for mankind with the release of us from slavery to sin and death and the domination by Satan the Devil because he will be dead for a thousand years. After that God’s rest ends and God will deal with us as perfect humans. During the thousand years the land will rest by being brought to a paradise under Jesus’ direction.  Our loved ones and those who did not know the truth and also faithful servants of God will be restored to live and be brought to perfection along with the survivors of this world’s end. Then exactly on time when God’s rest ends, Jesus will hand over rulership to his father when it has rectified all the damage done by Satan’s rulership.

(1 Corinthians 15:24-28) . . .Next, the end, when he hands over the kingdom to his God and Father, when he has brought to nothing all government and all authority and power. 25 For he must rule as king until [God] has put all enemies under his feet. 26 As the last enemy, death is to be brought to nothing. 27 For [God] “subjected all things under his feet.” But when he says that ‘all things have been subjected,’ it is evident that it is with the exception of the one who subjected all things to him. 28 But when all things will have been subjected to him, then the Son himself will also subject himself to the One who subjected all things to him, that God may be all things to everyone.

With the final fulfillment of God’s purposes  God will have satisfied the desire of every living thing and as his perfect earthly children we will inhabit the land and dwell therein for ever.

(Psalm 145:16) . . .You are opening your hand And satisfying the desire of every living thing.
