Geology of the past

My life changed when my eyes were opened to the failure of the evolution theory to answer simple common sense questions. These questions  have been discussed in other articles published on this site, but what has proved to be a real eye-opener was when I realized how historical geology had been corrupted by evolutionary teaching.

Before the nineteenth century almost all geologists believed in the flood of Noah’s day and used it to explain how the fossil record was formed. The book “The Deluge Story in Stone” by Byron Nelson and quite a few other publications made available  by the creation research society have produced much evidence rejecting  evolution and showing that the flood is a more accurate description of how the fossil record was formed.

Byron Nelson in his book “The deluge story in stone” takes you down the centuries, showing what Geologists in those days believed. It is therefore easy to see how their beliefs squared up with the facts in comparison with modern day historical geologists

Geology of the Present

Modern historical geology teaches that the strata of the earth which are composed of sedimentary rock were all formed slowly over millions of years. Of course millions of years are required for evolution to accomplish its work and this is how evolution theory has influenced the thinking of geologists. Now we should remember that any examination of the material that the strata itself is composed of provides no help at all in the dating process. Logically, if a Global flood occurred, this would be the time when the majority of strata layers were laid down, so by knowing when the flood occurred, we can arrive at the approximate date of the strata with a small allowance for the fact that there may have been some reworking of the strata for a short time after the flood. The date of the flood can be arrived at from the Bible and this is about 2370 B.C.E. However Geologists would prefer  to have some method independent of the Bible that could provide them with dates. This would have the appearance of being more scientific. Evolutionists have given them the tools for supplying an age to the strata, however these tools  are fraudulent. The tool is a dated index fossil which can then be used to date the strata layer that it is found in.  Accepting the evolution theory as factual, the fossils were arranged in an evolutionary sequence. These fossils were assumed to have only been present at one time in earth’s history, and were labeled as index fossils. The dates that were assigned to these index fossils were invented by the evolutionary biologist to support the evolution theory. The index fossils were then used to supply dates to strata layers that the index fossils were found in. I have discussed this in greater detail in my article entitled “Evolutions time scale” and showed how the Geological table was actually formed. Apparently one of the initial steps in laying the groundwork for this evolutionary hypothesis was proposed by Charles Lyell. (1797-1875) He published a three volume series entitled “principles of geology” (1830-1833)

What was significant about these books was that they laid down a new basis for interpreting the evidence. Time has proved these principles false but they accomplished what the  original writer probably intended. How so? Historical Geologists previously accepted that the fossil record provided confirmation of the global flood of Noah’s day.. This interpretation is labeled  Catastrophism. As the flood was a world wide phenomena it provided a  very logical explanation for the forming of the fossils.

Charles Lyell, deliberately chose to propose an hypothesis that was obviously intended to prevent the bible being used as an accurate historical record. He ventured that catastrophes like the global flood should not be used to explain the evidence, but only processes that can be observed as occurring today, should be used. In other words, only what was occurring at present was the key to the past. Explanations involving past catastrophes were voted out, and not to be accepted. Now think of this.  Flooding and the deposition of sediment did actually occur in the present,  so there was no sound scientific reason for rejecting the global flood  as the cause of  the fossil record.

The problem was that a global flood exposed the evolutionary sequence of fossil formation as a fraud. The testimony of the flood had to be removed at all costs. It was a simple matter to focus on the global nature of the flood and therefore to reject it on the grounds that global catastrophes were not occurring at present. Now I ask you, Is it reasonable to  reject a global flood on the grounds that we do not observe one occurring today?  Surely we would all be dead if such a flood was occurring at present, and if we are capable of rejecting  the testimony of individuals who survived a global flood in the past,  why should we accept the testimony of any modern day survivors of such a catastrophe. This exposes the argument for what it really is. It is merely a ploy designed to reject the Bible as an authoritative historical record and  to open the way for the acceptance of the millions of years that evolution theory requires to explain why evolution is not plainly visible to us in every day life.

An eye-witness account, accepted as absolute truth by a nation as part of their national  history,  supported by legends from all over the world,  was rejected and treated as myth on the opinion of  Charles Lyell. This was in spite of the fact that thousands of handwritten copies in many different languages and covering thousands of the years bore testimony to the fact that the men who copied the accounts wholeheartly believed in their truthfulness.  Furthermore scientists up to that time were quite satisfied that the available evidence found in the strata of the earth was confirmation that the world had indeed been destroyed by a global flood.  Where was Charles Lyell’s authority for this change? There was none. Why was it then accepted? Because atheistic scientists wanted pseudo-scientific support for their evolution theory. Because no living creatures were observed to be evolving, it was necessary to say that the process was so slow that it could not be observed. Here was the solution to the problem. If the strata took millions of years to be formed, according to this slow formation theory then these large time periods obtained gave a scientific flavor to the evolution theory.  Charles Lyell was not alive at the time of the flood, and so was not in a position to decide whether his hypothesis was valid or not. It was presumption on his part to overrule the Bible writers, early copyists  and the work of the scientists prior to his day.

Nevertheless this view was adopted as the basis for interpreting the history of earth’s strata. But now let us consider the facts logically and with common sense.

Applying common Sense

Fossils are found in the sedimentary rock layers. Now if the layers of strata were formed slowly as Charles Lyell and modern geology affirms, then logically any large dinosaur lying dead there must have laid there for thousands of years while the strata was slowly being formed. As the earth is covered with strata and millions of fossils this process is assumed to be global.

Which is more reasonable to you?  A quick burial by a massive flood that stirred up large masses of material and then deposited this material as sediment together with millions of animals and fish life together  or a slow burial that took millions of years for them to be formed. Enormous thickness of strata layers in some places show how large the deposits were.

Modern geologists accept the principle of erosion. The wind and other natural processes do erode mountains and other natural features. However erosion is accepted as being a reasonably slow process. The only time that it can be quick is if a flood lays down sediment quickly and the forces of erosion act on relatively soft strata. However if the strata is gradually being formed then what happens to the process of erosion, as the two processes are in  direct opposition to each other?  Erosion in itself would cancel out any slow formation of the strata. So this story of a slow formation of strata is just in the imagination of evolutionists and not supported by true facts. How can the forces of nature slowly form a  strata layer and erode it at the same time, surely the one force cancels out the other. That is why evolutionists only apply the forces of erosion when it suits the theory but it is ignored when applying to slow-forming strata.

Early Geologists were Right

By applying Charles Lyell’s hypothesis catastrophic events were ruled out by geology and replaced with the theory of uniformity. However after rejecting catastrophic events and therefore doing away with any explanation for the fossils formation by the flood of Noah’s day, geologists have now returned to catastrophic events. Today,  modern geology theorizes that the continents are floating around all over the globe according to the tectonic plate theory, but we may ask, where do we see these  continents floating about? I am not taking issue with them on this matter but ask what happened to the “present being the key to the past“? If the tectonic plate theory is not a catastrophic explanation then what is? Modern scientists react ecstatically when they see a meteor colliding with Jupiter because it is regarded as supporting proof for a new theory that the planets were build up by meteor collisions,  surely that is a new catastrophic theory. The craters of the moon and the few evidences of past meteor collisions with earth testify that catastrophes do actually happen. However it is easy for geologists to accept this idea today in spite of still holding to the slow strata formation theory because most persons today have had their faith in the Bible destroyed. Apparently Charles Lyell succeeded in accomplishing what he had intended, namely the rejection of the biblical account. It is hoaxes like this that make it important for persons who believe in the bible, to make a study of its authenticity and its teaching so as to protect their faith. We should not be hasty in accepting the statements of scientists just because they are scientists. They are just as open to prejudice and in misprepresenting the facts as anybody else.

The Hypocrisy Exposed

Now when I say that geology made a mistake can you see what I mean. Modern geology, by accepting  Lyell’s theory ignored the work of many previous scientists, who regarded the fossil record as factual evidence of the historical record of the Bible. In spite of these records being written by individuals who lived closer to the time of the flood and therefore in a better position to testify to their occurrence.  Modern geology ignored these facts in favor of a theory that had no evidence to the contrary. However as most persons are not aware of these facts, they are also not aware that the acceptance of meteor collisions that are supposed to be forming the planets and the acceptance of the tectonic plate theory show that modern geologists  are not serious about “the present being the key to the past” and in rejecting catastrophic events.  Evidently the “present is not the key to the past.” Of course this is with the exception of  the global flood, which was never recorded as a theory but as an historical event.  It seems that the early geologists who accepted the flood catastrophe had a sound case. In contrast the theory proposed by Charles Lyell is now shown by the facts to be in error. So why are geologists not ready to discard the geologic structure that they built up based on these false concepts. They don’t appear to be eager to abandon the structure of geology which was built on Charles Lyell’s erroneous hypothesis, which is the basis for deceiving persons into believing that fossils are millions of years old.

What a massive deception of the people. This is basically the sequence of events.

1. Problem number one—how to get rid of the flood?.—Charles Lyell’s theory is the answer.

2. Slow deposition of sediment accepted—therefore supplying millions of years for evolution to operate.

3. Evolution accepted as fact —evolutionary scientists assign hypothetical ages to index fossils.

4. Strata dated by index fossils—-Dates in millions of years assigned to strata based on the dates supplied by the evolutionist.

5. Other fossils then dated by the strata

6. Because original belief in flood was rejected and forgotten,  now there is no problem accepting catastrophic events

7. However the slow formation of strata is still held in spite of Lyell’s  hypothesis being proved wrong.

Can you see the deception? Notice that scientists are not so objective as most persons imagine.

All of this was to get evolution to be accepted as fact and to deny God the honor and praise that he deserves for his wonderful creation.

One of the best books that I have read is Donald Pattern’s book entitled the “The Biblical Flood and the Ice Epoch.” This book puts out the theory that the flood was caused by a visitor from outer space which interacted with earth in such away that it collapsed the canopy and caused it to rain.  Although a theory it harmonizes beautifully with the Bible account. What I particularly liked was its explanation of why the ice cap in the northern hemisphere was resting on water, whereas the ice cap in the southern hemisphere was resting on land.  I find that the scientific work of the creation research scientists is excellent, but  their Biblical explanations merely reflect their church beliefs and not necessarily what the Bible actually teaches.  For example their belief that creation was accomplished in six twenty-four hour days merely represents the beliefs of their respective churches and should not be confused with what the bible actually teaches.

(Hebrews 4:3-5) . . .For we who have exercised faith do enter into the rest, just as he has said: “So I swore in my anger, ‘They shall not enter into my rest,’” although his works were finished from the founding of the world. 4 For in one place he has said of the seventh day as follows: “And God rested on the seventh day from all his works,” 5 and again in this place: “They shall not enter into my rest.”

According to the above scripture, God is still resting and fixes the creative days as being a lot more than 24 hours.
