The Miracle of the Ransom
Christians are aware that the doctrine of the ransom is one of the most important teachings of the Bible. In fact without the ransom nobody can meet with God’s approval. However what most peopl;e are not aware of is that the ransom is based on the fact that the whole human race came from out of the first man’s body. Eve was created from his rib and the rest of humanity came from the two of them. So a perfect man had within his body the means to father the whole race of mankind. Adam personally paid for his sin by dying but the dying process operating within his body was inherited by his children
At great emotional cost to himself, God selected his firstborn son, the first spirit son that he had ever created to furnish the ransom. This one was a loving, faithful and willing spirit son of his, whom he fully trusted to uphold his side of the issue. The following scriptures emphasize this fact.
(Proverbs 8:22-23) . . .“Jehovah himself produced me as the beginning of his way, the earliest of his achievements of long ago. 23 From time indefinite I was installed, from the start, from times earlier than the earth.
(Proverbs 8:29-31) . . .when he decreed the foundations of the earth, 30 then I came to be beside him as a master worker, and I came to be the one he was specially fond of day by day, I being glad before him all the time, 31 being glad at the productive land of his earth, and the things I was fond of were with the sons of men.
(Colossians 1:13-15) 13 He delivered us from the authority of the darkness and transferred us into the kingdom of the Son of his love, 14 by means of whom we have our release by ransom, the forgiveness of our sins. 15 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation.
This son’s life pattern was transferred to the womb of an imperfect, although faithful Jewish virgin. In the language of modern science this could be regarded as an embryo transplant. The perfect child was born as a human Son of God like Adam, having God for his father and so could be called the second or last Adam. Because he had proved himself in heaven, never failing in his obedience from the heart. In spite of his having freewill God had absolute confidence that this son could be trusted to carry out the mission.
Satan had assumed that God had a weakness and that this weakness was his devotion to righteousness. Although Jehovah God was almighty in power he has chosen to limit his use of power. He always rules in a loving and just way and could be trusted to never lie.
From God’s point of view, this is what preserves the unity and happiness of his intelligent creation. The creation responds to this loving rule by God and the unity exists because they love him above all else and he can always be trusted. Just imagine how it would be if our creator was unreliable and untrustworthy.
That is why Satan introduced his rebellion at the time that God created Adam and Eve. God had stated his purpose for them. They were to “increase and multiply and fill the earth” Furthermore they were to exercise dominion over the whole earth and extend the paradise. This was all to be done under God’s direction. From Satan’s point of view if they rebelled and God allowed them to die they would be unable to fulfill his stated purpose. As far as Satan was concerned this was a no-win situation for God As God also proceeded to rest after stating his mandate to the perfect pair, and as it was God’s purpose to have his mandate completely fulfilled at the time of the end of his rest. This demonic plan seemed to be foolproof.
We can therefore see that the mission that was before Jesus was a very important one. For Jehovah to clear his name of this reproach he had to prove once and for all that he could handle any situation without breaking his own principles and therefore it was a legal issue. Could this be possible without breaking God’s laws? As God’s resting was only from creative activity towards the earth he had never abdicated his rulership of the universe.
(John 5:16-18) 16 So on this account the Jews went persecuting Jesus, because he was doing these things during Sabbath. 17 But he answered them: “My Father has kept working until now, and I keep working.” 18 On this account, indeed, the Jews began seeking all the more to kill him, because not only was he breaking the Sabbath but he was also calling God his own Father, making himself equal to God. . .
God upheld his law by allowing Adam an Eve to die. in harmony with justice he then proceeded to have his purposes nevertheless accomplished within the framework of his righteous principles.
God would have to perform a miracle for it to be possible. However, because the son was not a new creation God would not need to break his rest and create a new human again. The son for his part would grow like any other child. Although perfect, he would be subject to the discipline of imperfect human parents. Once he attained maturity he would personally have to study the Bible, arrive at an understanding of his mission and then volunteer his service.
(Heb.10:5-7). . Hence when he comes into the world he says: “‘Sacrifice and offering you did not want, but you prepared a body for me. 6 You did not approve of whole burnt offerings and sin [offering].’ 7 Then I said, ‘Look! I am come (in the roll of the book it is written about me) to do your will, O God.’”
The mission included a three and a half year preaching mission, training and selecting the foundation members of the Christian congregation and finally a very painful death.
The forming of the Christian Congregation was also important because humans had to be aware of the situation and to know ahat was required of them to benefit from the ransom. The Christian congregation was to inform the human race of these requirements.
A slave or prisoner can be purchased by someone, if that person pays the equivalent value put on the slave. When Adam sinned he paid the price for his sin personally but also sold his future offspring into slavery to death and imperfection. The only way that Adam’s offspring could be released from this bondage was by the payment of a ransom price equal in value to what was lost. A ;perfect human life was lost, therefore the ransom had to be paid by a perfect human. The ransom price was the death of a perfect human who, like Adam, before he sinned could have also produced a ;perfect family.
If God created another perfect man then that would have constituted failure on God’s part and in any case after that person paid the ransom price by dying, he needed to be alive to apply the benefits that his death had purchased. He could not take his sacrifice back. How could he then produce a perfect human family?
God’s firstborn son, Jesus, realized what was required to uphold his father’s name and willingly accepted the assignment from his father to participate in the ransom provision. How did he do this?
He voluntarily permitted his father to transfer his life pattern to a human embryo in the womb of a faithful Jewish woman named Mary. After being born and raised like any other child and growing to the age of about thirty years old he was able to ascertain from the scriptures what God’s purpose for him was. He then willingly presented himself, at his baptism, for God to use him to ransom mankind. The heavens were opened to him indicating that his memories were now unlocked concerning the many instructions that he had received from his father while in heaven as to how his mission would be accomplished.
The wisdom of this arrangement was that after he was put to death that was not the final end of Jesus. God could resurrect him to what he had before, because he had only sacrificed his perfect human life and not his right to perfect heavenly life as a spirit son of God.
Now in his heavenly position he could apply the benefits of his sacrifice to humanity. He could use his ransom to make allowance for mankind’s imperfection and adopt them provided they showed, that if they were perfect they would have not sinned like Adam had. He had paid the price with his perfect human life and purchased mankind’s release from bondage to sin and death and so he became our legal owner. Jesus had done nothing to disqualify himself from heavenly life, so if he was to administer the benefits of his sacrifice to mankind, he needed to be once again alive in heaven, and therefore God performed another miracle and resurrected him to what he had before. God raised Jesus to a superior position. He now owned the human race and was promised a kingdom as a reward for his services. Furthermore God had granted him the authority, and power to accomplish this restoration work when that Kingdom was set up. That was why He taught us to pray for the coming of that kingdom that would bring God’s will on earth. At that time he would apply the benefits of his ransom to mankind by resurrecting them and raising them to perfection in a new world of righteousness. What a wonderful arrangement God had introduced. By the completion of his rest day all his purposes towards earth and its restoration, God would have completely cleared his name of all reproach, proved Satan a liar and vindicated his sovereignty showing that he was the only one capable of ruling and maintaining unity in he universe. After permitting Satan to rule this world for thousands of years, Satan’s failure would be self-evident God would have proved that only his way can lead to success.
(John 12:30-31) . . .In answer Jesus said: “This voice has occurred, not for my sake, but for YOUR sakes. 31 Now there is a judging of this world; now the ruler of this world will be cast out. . .
(Philippians 2:5-11) 5 Keep this mental attitude in YOU that was also in Christ Jesus, 6 who, although he was existing in God’s form, gave no consideration to a seizure, namely, that he should be equal to God. 7 No, but he emptied himself and took a slave’s form and came to be in the likeness of men. 8 More than that, when he found himself in fashion as a man, he humbled himself and became obedient as far as death, yes, death on a torture stake. 9 For this very reason also God exalted him to a superior position and kindly gave him the name that is above every [other] name, 10 so that in the name of Jesus every knee should bend of those in heaven and those on earth and those under the ground, 11 and every tongue should openly acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father.
False Ideas Involving The Ransom
Many religions show their lack of understanding of the ransom provision because they teach that when Jesus was resurrected he was raised with a human body and went to heaven with his human body. This was not so. If Jesus had been raised with a human body then he would simply have taken back his sacrifice and there would have been no available ransom provision.. This teaching is therefore false.
(1 Corinthians 15:45) . . .It is even so written: “The first man Adam became a living soul.” The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
(1 Corinthians 15:22) . . .For just as in Adam all are dying, so also in the Christ all will be made alive.
(Mark 10:45) . . .For even the Son of man came, not to be ministered to, but to minister and to give his soul a ransom in exchange for many.”
By his sacrifice the Son purchased the human family. Although the ransom covers the whole human race, Jesus only accepts those who after being given the opportunity to know the truth accept it and are prepared to use their lives to obey his Father. This is logical because the whole issue involved the question of obedience to God. Using his perfect body as a sacrifice, Jesus paid the price for the ransom. He now has the full right to have a human family. How do we benefit? Because we imperfect humans were not to blame for our imperfect condition, Jesus can adopt us and raise us back to perfection legally. He does this conditionally of course. We have to prove that if we were perfect we would never sin but be perfectly obedient to God.
(1 Corinthians 6:19-20).YOU do not belong to yourselves, 20 for YOU were bought with a price. By all means, glorify God in the body of YOU people. . .
Perfect Life on Earth Lost, Not Heavenly Life.
The churches failure to understand the ransom teaching is because they have chosen to accept religious traditions, have added pagan teachings to their worship and not used the Bible alone as their true source of information. By holding to these false teachings, the existing professed “Christian Religions” have closed the door to their understanding of the scriptures and it becomes impossible for them to properly understand how the ransom works.
One example of this is the doctrine of the “Trinity”, taught by 90% of the religions in Christendom and that claims that Jesus is God. The payment of the ransom requires that the sacrifice be a “perfect man” like Adam and not “a God man”. The Trinity teaching creates contradictions in the Bible because if Jesus was God then God who is immortal can die and the question then arises as to where the trinity was while Jesus, supposedly God was dead. The ransom also only buys perfect life on earth for faithful humans.
The teaching that all faithful humans go to heaven when they die is also a false religious teaching. This false teaching is a teaching of the demons designed to teach that God had lied when he said that man would die. The teaching that the human soul is immortal (another pagan doctrine,) therefore upholds the Devil’s side of the issue and prevents us from benefiting from the ransom sacrifice.
(Ezekiel 18:20) . . .The soul that is sinning—it itself will die. . . .
(2 Peter 2:1) . . .However, there also came to be false prophets among the people, as there will also be false teachers among YOU. These very ones will quietly bring in destructive sects and will disown even the owner that bought them, bringing speedy destruction upon themselves. . .
The ransom buys back perfect life on earth as the following scripture shows
(Psalm 37:29) 29 The righteous themselves will possess the earth, And they will reside forever upon it.
What are we to say about the fact that Jesus shows that there is also a hope of heavenly life for some humans? The answer is simple. All scripture must harmonize and so any understanding we have must be based on scriptures throughout the Bible.
