The Bible is the only ancient library that can be found resident in almost any body’s home today and in almost every language.

Its individual books were written by a large number of writers spanning a period of 1656 years.

The writers came from many backgrounds Some were kings. Some were priests; some were ordinary common people like fishermen, yet they produced the only library that spans many centuries of time. Many of the writers never knew one another personally, and many of them were  never even around at the same time, yet the writings that they produced can be bound together and read as a single book. How was this all possible?

Who was the Author?

The men all claimed that what they wrote was not their own thoughts. They claimed that the thoughts  and instructions were God’s thoughts and instructions and that they merely used their own words to put these thoughts and instructions down in writing. Yet they completed writings that are in complete harmony. In some cases the documents showed advanced knowledge that was not available at that time in history.

The Honesty of the Writers

The descriptions  of their surroundings are so accurate in  detail that even today many archaeologists use them as a text book to locate ancient archaeological places and sites.

The writers were honest, confessing their own shortcomings, admitting their own wrongdoing and showing how God viewed their actions. Many, when writing their national history blatantly exposed their nation as a disobedient, stubborn nation. They recorded the defeats of the nation and the way God punished the nation for its  wrongdoing. The writings  even showed that although the nation had been privileged to have a special relationship with their Creator he eventually dissolved this special relationship because of the nations rebellion and disobedient attitude

A Sacred History of a Nation

What is more notable is that the nation as a whole regarded these writings as an authoritative account of the nation’s  history, in spite of the fact that it is largely a record of the nation’s disobedience and failure to be faithful to God . Reverend men meticulously copied the documents, so as to preserve them when the materials that they were written on became worn. An this was at a time when the copying of documents was all done by hand and before the age of printing this is very noteworthy.  Copies were also made for distribution in many different languages so that everyone could read it in their language. This practice has continued down the centuries until our time.  It is the  only ancient collection of writings that have been treated in this way and so it is the only very ancient library that is  freely available and at prices that makes it easily affordable.

Men Risked Death and Torture for it

Down the centuries men copied the writings meticulously by candle and oil lamps while they were being hunted down and burned at the stake for doing just that. It became a criminal offence just to possess, distribute and talk about its contents to people. People were branded as heretics for doing so. Attempts were even made to gather and burn handmade copies and later printed copies of the Bible. What became known as the dark ages was when the clergy of Christendom ruled the world by means of their influence with the state. The same occurred after the reformation but to a lesser degree.

Attempts have been made to discredit the Bible  by critics who profess to be able to analyze its contents. Known as the “Higher Criticism” many clergymen claiming to be of this clan destroyed the faith of their flocks while still professing to be representing God.  While disobeying its instructions they have brought reproach on it because of their conduct, yet it has never supported their unrighteous behavior.

The Clergy and the Bible

Jesus specifically said that his kingdom was not of this world or else his servants would have fought to prevent him from being taken  by the Jews. By contrast the clergy have fermented wars like the crusades that were responsible for the deaths of thousands of individuals in the name of Christ. Every major war has had the clergy of respective nations supporting the war effort, aiding in the recruitment of soldiers and giving comfort to the dying members of their flocks, making them feel that their deaths were worthwhile. They have  made serving in battle a noble thing.  Jesus had said that his kingdom was not of this world, giving us a reason why his servants did not fight in wars or take part in disputes.

So the record of the Bible’s fight to survive is an historical fact and the fact that it has survived down to our day is nothing short of a miracle, particularly when one considers that  all other very ancient documents can only be found in museums.

Within the last few centuries a new enemy has appeared. It is a theory called the theory of evolution. It claims to know how life came into existence and that mankind is just the latest stage of an ongoing process of evolution. Life is supposed to have started from inert lifeless matter and then evolved upwards until we are the highest form of life today. The vast majority of scientists and people believe it. Of course this in itself proves nothing. Because the majority have been proved wrong in the past. Some scientists disagree with it. One  evolutionist, after considering an article which I wrote,  told me that all “reputable scientists” believe in evolution. As quite a number of scientist were once evolutionary scientists themselves before rejecting the theory, one wonders if at that time they were considered reputable and when they abandoned  evolution they were considered as no longer reputable.

The Purpose of These Articles

The  articles that I write are for the persons that might have considered that there was no other side to the story. “Face the facts” invites them to consider what the Bible actually teaches and not what most people think it teaches. With regard to evolution, we intend alerting people to the fact that evolution is not all it clams to be.  The other side of the story is not generally known. This gives the public the opportunity to evaluate the evidence for themselves rather relying on the testimony and reputations of men who could easily mislead them.

The Bible is a very ancient book, certainly written long before the formation of what we call modern sciences. By comparing it with evolution which is of modern times and has all the scientific technology at its disposal,  it will be interesting to see how it compares with the evolution model, and which fits better with reality.

The Logical Conclusion

When we compare what has been found in the real world to what evolution predicted, and to what creation predicted, is it not apparent which model fits the facts and which one conflicts with them?

The evidence from the world of living things around us, and from the fossil record of things that lived long ago, testifies to the same conclusion:

Life was created; it did not evolve.

No, life did not get its start in some unknown primeval “soup.” Humans did not get here by way of apelike ancestors. Instead, living things were created in abundance as distinct family types. Each could multiply in great variety within its own “kind,” but could not cross the boundary separating different kinds. That boundary, as can be clearly observed in living things, is enforced by sterility. And the distinction between kinds is protected by each one’s unique genetic machinery.

However, there is much more that testifies to a Creator than just the facts fitting the predictions of the creation model. Consider the amazing designs and complexities that are found on the earth, indeed, throughout the universe. These, too, testify to the existence of a Supreme Intelligence.
